Postnatal Doula Support Bristol

Post natal doula support made super simple.

I think everyone agrees support in the delicate postnatal period sounds great - but as mothers and women so often we don’t put ourselves first.. or feel guilty or over indulgent for doing so. Help with house work feels ok - but making time to have a bath or just breathe feels a bit indulgent?

I wanted to simplify this, ensure you feel you can choose any and all support, removing all the can I have, is it too much worries.

01
Book your dates and time

02
Choose your support from the "menu”

03
Get the support you need & deserve.

When it comes to Post Natal support I really feel that society has done us dirty, bounce back culture, trying to figure out no visitors to build the family bond vs accept all the help you can get… the juggle of this is really hard, and sometimes it seems like everyone else is managing, but your secretly stuggling a bit.

I see you!

It can feel like help with the laundry or some meal prepping will be ok (acceptable) .. but is it just a bit extra to have someone run you a foot bath, make you lunch…AND put the washing on? It absolutely isn’t but that sneaky female guilt keeps showing up. Even if your doula likely offers it do you feel comfortable to ask or to accept?

It can also be really tricky if you are a ND mama, figuring out the "rules”of having someone come to your home… and it would be a lot easier to know exactly what those hours will look like, so that you actually do feel relaxed and not second guessing whats is and isn’t going to happen, wondering if that thing you really wanted some help with is ok to ask about. I totally get that and we can build a neurospicey surprise free plan that works for you.

My postnatal doula support is a little different - I have a menu of things you can choose from help wise. Nothing costs extra, but it puts you in control of the precious time. You can also let me know things you really don't want! …and I want to put it here now - I’m am a judgement free support - I don't expect your house to be tidy, you to be out of your PJ's, or even know what month it is.

What support can I choose?

All sessions are a minimum of 2 hours & we will always sit and share a simple lunch or tea and cake (depending on the time of day) giving you time to relax and just chat (lets be honest probably about your gorgeous new baby!)

And then you can choose from the support menu what else you'd like help with, examples below:

  • Laundry & folding washing

  • Breastfeeding support ( I am an ABM peer supporter)

  • Food prep - I can make a some simple meals for you to freeze, eg pasta sauce, dahl, chilli - you need to provide the supplies.

  • I can play with your toddler or hold your baby so you can have 1:1 time with older children.. and I will tidy up afterwards!

  • Run you a bath/shower foot bath & keep an eye on baby for you. If your very freshly post partum, help with sitz baths for recovery from tears.

  • Help you do a food shop - I know it can feel overwhelming getting out the house with a new addition!

  • Help you build confidence to do everyday tasks with baby, or baby and toddler. That might be getting the bus or going to the local park - I will never make you feel bad or silly as you build your confidence.

  • Quick blitz with the hoover - especially helpful if you had a c-section!

  • Conversations around baby care, I will never tell you how you must do something - with 3 kids of my own I can 100% tell you there is no perfect way as each baby is different! But there is usually many ways of trying things, all my support is gentle with a baby led focus.

  • Support for when your partner goes back to work - maybe you just need that moral support for a day or two.

  • Nervous system regulation - you & baby! Those hypnobirthing techniques come in mighty handy post-natally too - I can help you see how . I can help you find moments to ground yourself, facilitate short and simple meditations or breath-work to help build your capacity for the time spent on your own.

  • Got a baby who cries a lot? I’ve been there, twice, and it’s very hard. An extra pair of hands, some support give your self some moments away from your baby knowing they are safe can be a huge reset, as well as working on simple things to soothe you both.

Plus so much more - lets make a plan that works for you.

  • I'm especially passionate about rebuilding your confidence so if you need support doing what feels like everyday activities then please reach out. Overwhelm is real, but you can be living your best life again.
