“Becca just made the whole experience so much easier, she made me feel heard, cared and understood me. She helped me feel more confident in my decisions, trusting birth & my intuition.” - 2nd time Mama.
About Becca
Thanks for stopping by. I am a doula & hypnobirthing teacher and mum to three living in Bristol. I have a deep passion for all things birth, but with a special love for those who are having a vaginal birth after previous c-section(s).
My story is that I experienced two difficult births resulting in unplanned caesareans and subsequent NICU stays followed by a simple home-birth with my third, with just my doula. It was a totally magical & life changing event, not because it was easy or went perfectly, but because I felt in control, fully responsible and at peace with my decisions. A large part of that was due to the “work” I did during my pregnancy - that went a lot further than simply attending a basic course. It was deeply reflective, emotional & at times uncomfortable, which meant I had the capacity to flex when plans changed, stay resolute when things got tough, know what mattered and what could adapt.
My passion for birth is not that you should have a particular type of birth, but that you feel heard, you know your choices and that you felt free to make them. I support all types of birth - you are the pivotal piece - what is right for you, your family, your story will be different to everyone else.
My care is all about you feeling centred, listened to, empowered by your strength, confident in your choices. I believe that birthing a baby is one of the most powerful things you can experience, and I want you to go into your birth feeling that.
How I show up for you:
My mission is all about helping you to curate the birth experience you and your baby deserve and desire.
Perhaps you are after birth preparation that is a bit different to everything else you've seen so far. I tell it how it is - evidence & science, realism, facts, but also with a big emphasis on mindset and practical solutions that will really work on the day . I also focus a lot on birth partners, how you can be an epic team and how they can support you confidently. I am not a yoga, sage, or singing doula. No shade around these, they just arn't what I'm about!
You probably find yourself here because you know there is more to birth then the standardised offering and and want to tap into power. It can be hard to explain to people exactly why this matters so much to you - or perhaps why birth in general matters so much. It's not just another day. Those first meetings only happen once, and the imprints stay with us for a lifetime.
The NHS is stretched beyond belief, maternity services cripplingly underfunded, understaffed and undervalued, and this is not the recipe for nurturing "you" centred care. We find ourselves in a difficult position of being so very grateful for our healthcare system, but equally often left needing and wanting more.
I will also say from the get go - like many of the best things in life, you get out what you put in - just turning up and listening to a course (any course!) is unlikely to get you results. You need to be willing to put the work in, and that may also include some deeper personal reflections.
My role will never be to advise you or give medical advice, but I can support & signpost you to up to date research and evidence so that you can make your own choices. I can help you with laying out options, unpick facts from emotions and be a listening ear, supporter and cheerleader, helping you to make the most of any situation that might arise.
I would love to support you on your journey, whether that's in person in Bristol or online.
